Acid Reflux / Heartburn

Acid reflux, heartburn, or gastroesophageal reflux disease is the inability of the sphincter located between the stomach and esophagus to close during eating. This sphincter prevents the acidic secretions of the stomach from going into the esophagus. However, acid reflux may also manifest in individuals who are overweight, those who consume too much coffee, and those who take antihistaminic drugs. Heartburn is the sensation that a person feels when the acidic contents of the stomach pass into the esophageal opening.

Protocol -The Heartburn Burner

 Cabbage

  1. In a pot of water, boil cabbage leaves for 15 minutes.
  2. Drink this as tolerated and needed.

Anemia

Anemia is most common in women due to their monthly menstrual cycle. Anemia can be due to a deficiency in iron and folic acid. However, iron is best absorbed in the presence of an acidic medium like vitamin C. Iron is the only mineral with a narrow spectrum as both an excess and a deficiency can be harmful to the body. Iron deficiency anemia can render a patient insomniac or weak, and/or cause palpitations.

Burns

Burns can be electrical, chemical, or physical in nature. Burns affecting the epidermis usually show a reddening of the skin. If the dermis is affected, a bullae or a bubble-like cavity filled with liquid or air is seen. Involvement of the subcutaneous layer of the skin signifies a third-degree burn and usually ends up with a dry, dark scab called an eschar. When muscles, bones, and cartilages are affected, the burn is 4th degree in nature and is very serious and possibly fatal. Always consult a health professional if you are suffering from severe burns.

Cancer

Cancer is now the leading cause of death in Australia and in some areas in the United States. The lifetime diagnosis ratio of cancer in females is 1:3, while in males is 1:2. Around 90 to 95% of cancer incidence originates from lifestyle and environmental factors, with diet being far and away the primary causal component. Only 5 to 10% is considered genetic in origin. Even if a patient has a high genetic risk to have cancer, the body’s terrain plays a major role in the prevention of this disease. It’s been estimated that the average person will develop a clinically observable cancer up to 6 times in their lifetime—but a strong and functional immune system can usually defeat these proto-cancers before they become clinically problematic. We make cancer cells in our bodies every day. Yes, all people create cancer cells at an estimated average of 10,000 to 75,000 cells or more per day. Cancer comes from a single mutated cell that the body was unable to get rid of during immuno surveillance. It is characterized by growth, invasion, and metastasis. Cancer cells are sugar metabolic. They feed on sugar and anything that is converted by the body to sugar. A typical cancer cell has about 96 receptors for sugar while a normal cell has typically only about 4. This is the science behind a PET scan, which uses irradiated glucose for cancer detection. Cancer has the ability to hide from the body’s natural healer cells, which allows it to proliferate. When a lump is already visible, it is almost always tens of millions of cancer cells in number, with a flourishing blood supply system and an established environment in the affected area. Many cancer patients will die of malnutrition, infection, or single to multiple organ failure either from the disease or as a result of treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. More important than the mode of treatment is the role that nutrition plays in the removal of cancer cells in the body.

Protocol –  The Natural Cancer Healer

Chronic Kidney Disease

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a consequence of any of the following: diabetes, auto-immune diseases, nephrolithiasis, tumors that cause
obstructions in the urinary tract, hyperuricemia, and basically just an unhealthy diet.
The kidneys are vital organs in the body that filter the blood to rid it of toxins and unwanted substances. When the nephrons are damaged and the kidneys are unable to perform their job, the body starts retaining fluid, congesting the lungs and heart. If the damage progresses, the patient can die. CKD is a reversible condition. Hence, it is important to note that we are not totally helpless when it comes to our body.

Protocol The Kidney Revitalizer

  • Stop or minimize eating sugary drinks and junk food.
  •  Brush teeth regularly. Baking soda, salt, and charcoal are great alternatives to a chemical-laden toothpaste. Baking soda gargle can also be used.
  • Clove oil can be applied to stop toothaches.
  • Oil pulling is very helpful. Use virgin coconut oil as a gargle for 10 minutes.

Depression

Depression is a mental condition characterized by loss of interest in activities previously perceived as exciting. It can manifest as insomnia or hypersomnia, weight loss or weight gain, neglect in self-care, persistent crying, and loss of concentration that occurs for a significant period of time.

  • Drink turmeric tea 3x a day.
  • Drink Chamomile teas 3x a day
  • Do an Epsom salt bath once a day, preferably at night, to encourage relaxation.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic illness plaguing approximately 10% of the world’s population. It is primarily a lifestyle disease and, therefore, can only be eradicated by changing the way we live and eat. When I was in medical school, we were taught that diabetes is primarily genetic in origin. My teachers also told me that: “Once a diabetic, always a diabetic.” This was misleading information that didn’t survive the test of time. Most illnesses are 90-95% due to one’s lifestyle, and genetics plays only a small role. Experience showed me that some diabetics really do go back to normal. This is wonderful news for us. It means that we are not victims of a certain ailment that we have no control over. A seed does not grow well in cement. A seed grows well in fertile soil. The seed is our gene and the soil or cement is our body. We can make this predisposition disappear or thrive in the environment we choose to create. This decision is all up to us.
The sugar-rich blood makes the platelets—the white and red blood cells—stick to one another.
In case of infections, the white blood cells are unable to move quickly to kill the offending organism that has invaded the body because of the sugar molecules. This is why healing wounds is very difficult for diabetics. With the red blood cells and platelets sticking to one another, it makes the blood very thick, leading to the risk of stroke of the heart and the brain. A sticky blood is hypoxic and, therefore, is acidotic. Acidosis is typically seen in cancer.
Diabetes has a host of other potential complications. According to published literature, 40% of kidney disease is due to diabetes. Diabetes can also cause retinopathy, which ultimately blinds the patient. About 6 out of 10 amputations are due to diabetes. If a cancer patient has diabetes, his incidence of death increases 4 times compared to those who are not diabetic. Diabetes can debilitate a patient.
Thankfully, there are many ways to manage blood sugar. Chromium improves insulin action and, thus, facilitates the movement of glucose inside the cell. Magnesium and vitamin C can stop serious complications that can arise due to diabetes. A ketogenic diet can also help profoundly.
A ketogenic diet is one of the best diets out there. It is very low in sugar, which is directly implicated in inflammatory conditions such as diabetes, coronary artery disease, hypertension, autoimmune diseases and cancer. A ketogenic diet provides a healthy amount of fats and protein which, when eaten, makes the person feel full preventing overeating, and consequently, obesity.

Pediatric Diseases

The following are some of the most common pediatric diseases:

  1. Measles, also known as Rubeola, is from the family of Paramyxovirus. The virus is typically transferred via respiratory droplets and is highly contagious. The virus enters the mucosal cells and hijacks the system to make more viruses. The virus is then shed into the bloodstream and the lymphatics to infect the child. The incubation period is generally 10-14 days. Before measles appear, the child would usually suffer from fever, cough, conjunctivitis, and development of Koplik spots (little spots inside the mouth that are highly characteristic of the early phase of measles) Afterwards, rashes which are flat and slightly bumpy start to appear in the face and in the body. In rare cases, panencephalitis may develop 7 to 10 years after a person acquires measles. This is a rare disease that attacks the central nervous system, which happens in a small number of patients.

  2. German Measles or Rubella is another pediatric disease. This viral infection is generally mild. This is characterized by fever, rashes and a characteristic lymphoid enlargement particularly in the neck or behind the ear. These go away without treatment. However, the rashes are cumbersome for pregnant women. Congenital Rubella Syndrome may cause the unborn child to suffer from mental retardation, blindness, or deafness.

  3. Chicken Pox or Shingles manifests as a blister or fluid-filled vesicle on the skin. Children with chicken pox would usually develop fever with this characteristic rash. The vesicles would heal and form a scab after 5 days. The scab would then fall off afterwards. The varicella zoster virus would sometimes remain dormant in the nerves and when reactivated would cause shingles or herpes zoster. The rash most often appears as a single stripe of blisters around either the left or the right side of the torso.

  4. Roseola Infantum is a relatively benign condition. The infected child would often develop a fever for three days. When the fever subsides, a rash would develop afterwards. The rash is usually flat and erythematous macules would disappear after a few days.

  5. Mumps is a contagious disease caused by a virus. The infected person would have swollen salivary glands and a fever.

  6. Polio is caused by the polio virus that is usually transferred via respiratory droplets and fecal-oral contamination. The polio virus infects the mucosal cells of the respiratory or intestinal tract, hijacks the cells’ machinery, and makes viruses that are normally excreted through feces or urine.
Infected people typically present with no symptoms while 1% of the population will develop poliomyelitis. Poliomyelitis affects the spinal nerves, particularly the motor or ventral horn of the spinal cord. The virus may kill the nerves and affect the organ it innervates. In some cases, it can affect the lower extremity. In severe cases, it may affect the diaphragm that may, in turn, affect the breathing of the patient.

  7. Whooping cough or pertussis is characterized by persistent cough and fever.

Honey – Drink 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of cinnamon in 1/2 cup of warm water 3 times a day. Honey is not allowed for children less than 2 years old due to infantile botulism or infantile flaccid paralysis.

Bittergourd leaves – Get a handful of fresh leaves to be steamed and juiced. This can be taken 3 to 4 times a day for fever.

Oregano leaves – Take a handful of oregano leaves to be steamed and juiced. This can be taken 3 to 4 times a day for cough.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) typically manifests with bloating, constipation or diarrhea, headache, nausea and vomiting, depression, irritability, and breast tenderness. The cause is still undetermined but some doctors believe that it is due to hormonal changes in the body.

Protocol – PMS No More

Chronic stress, however, is bad for us because it may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and in some instances, cancer. Excessive and chronic stress can be managed by changing your home environment, removing the stressor, or engaging in relaxing activities like exercise and meditation. You may also try drinking calming teas to help your mind and body relax.

• Drink chamomile or kava kava tea 3x a day

Urinary Tract Infection (including stones)

Urinary tract infection (UTI) can be problematic if accompanied with blood, pain, and frequency in urination. Vitamin C is an antimicrobial, water-soluble vitamin that can increase the flow of urine. Wound care is important in order to prevent infection of the affected area, which may cause more serious ailments. Some people with concomitant medical conditions like diabetes have wounds that don’t heal properly. These people need special assistance when it comes to wound care, preferably from a professional health care provider. Diabetic wounds that don’t heal properly can result in the loss of limbs and can even be fatal. Amputation may be recommended as a last resort. For less severe wounds, use the Wound Healer recipe to help your skin recuperate and heal faster.
