The 5 Facets of the Doctor Farrah Protocol
When Dr. Farrah was starting in her profession there were many ideologies and practices that her school taught her that was ingrained in her head. It was difficult to reconcile Modern Medicine and Traditional Medicine because they are totally opposite. Her practice was a journey. She used to believe that the foods that are served in the table is enough to sustain our nutritional requirements. She thought that Vitamins and Minerals are a waste of money. She falsely believed that mega-dosing in vitamins and minerals are detrimental to health. She used to believe that plants have no healing properties. She thought that eating a certain herb can harm the kidneys and the liver. She believed that maintenance drugs are important to health and that old people should be in some form of drug to stay healthy like aspirin or statin. Hypertension and Diabetes are incurable, she often told people. She thought that fluoride was necessary for strong teeth. She also thought that high Cholesterol and saturated fats are bad and thus the leading cause of atherosclerosis, heart and brain stroke. She believed that radiation from X-rays are too small to cause damage and repeated exposure is perfectly fine. She also believed that vaccines are safe and that they offer 100 percent protection, efficacy and safety. All these issues she believed until she did her research. She realized that most of what the Medical school taught her are baseless. Most of the medical procedures that are performed in the hospital or what physicians do have less than 20 percent solid evidence to backed it up. These claims are rarely discussed. Most physicians don’t know what they are doing. They disagree most of the time. That’s why its pertinent to ask for several opinions before a patient should make a decision concerning his health or life. She remembers one patient who told her a story about his experience in the hospital. He came in due to diarrhea but since he has diabetes and hypertension and heart disease, 4 doctors came to visit him, each with their pet organs. Each doctor gave their own opinions, contrasting one another but nothing was done to help his initial complaint of chronic diarrhea. In the end, he left the hospital with tons of bills and no improvement. “The moment I stopped listening to so called “experts” and listened more to my gut and my patients, my life changed for the better” she said. Dr. Farrah became a better physician because she stopped herself from becoming influence by the crowd. She opened forbidden books and old researches. She had to understand and learned from old physicians of the days. If we do not know and learn from the past, we are bound to repeat its mistakes.
In the mid 1800’s Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis, a Hungarian physician suggested washing hands with chlorinated lime solutions before delivering a baby to help lessen the mortality of puerperal fever among mothers. That time he was not able to explain his theory to his colleagues as bacteria have not been discovered. The other doctors were offended by his suggestion. He was scorned, chastised and even was sent to an asylum where he was beaten up to death at the age of 47. With the discovery of the microbes, Semmelweis was hailed as the “savior of mothers.” But he died honourless.
Natural medicine works. It continues to help people of all ages, status and races.
5 important facets that are necessary for the recovery of the health of a sick person
Vitamin Therapy
Mineral Therapy
Herbal Therapy
Nutritional Therapy
Lifestyle and Environmental modification.
These are basic yet important phases in Dr. Farrah’s protocol. She cannot stress the importance of following these procedures 100 percent. Failure to follow them will mean lost time, effort and money. Although she does not give 100 percent assurance that a sick person will recover, the likelihood of him or her to combat his or her present condition will be higher if all of these are followed diligently.
Vitamin Therapy
Vitamins are organic substances that can sustain and maintain life. Most of the vitamins can be produced in the body and supplied in food. Water soluble vitamins are Vitamin C and B complexes. Fat soluble vitamins are Vitamin ADEK. Vitamin C is essential in the production of collagen, it strengthens immunity, and prevents occurrence of certain illnesses. Humans are one of the few creatures in the world that has lost its capacity to make Vitamin C due to a genetic mutation. Vitamin C should be supplemented daily. Vitamin B’s are derived from animal sources like liver, eggs and also from certain plants and vegetables. A deficiency in Vitamin B1 or thiamine may cause wet and dry beri-beri and Wernicke’s Korsakoff syndrome. A deficiency of riboflavin may cause ariboflavinosis. A deficiency of B3 or Niacin can lead to pellagra that can manifest as dermatitis, diarrhea and dementia. Deficiency in Vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid may manifest as pins and needles or neuropathic disorder. B6 or Pyridoxine deficiency may show as anemia and paresthesia. Biotin or B7 deficiency may cause dermatitis, enteritis and baldness. B9 or Folic acid is particularly important in pregnant women. In some studies folic acid deficiency may lead to spinal cord defect in the developing fetus. In adults, it can cause megaloblastic anemia.
Vitamin B12 or cyanocobalamine deficiency may cause anemia and formation of more immature red blood cells.
Vitamin A is important for the integrity of the mucosa and intestines. It is also essential for good eyesight. Vitamin A deficiency can lead to some form of cancers, blindness and high risk of infections. Vitamin D or Ergocalciferol or cholecalciferol deficiency may be associated with development of rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.
Vitamin E is known as tocopherols and tocotrienols. Vitamin E protects red cell membranes, promotes heart health and is a great anti -oxidant.
Vitamin K is known as phytomenadione or menaquinone which is integral for blood clotting.
Mineral Therapy
Minerals are inorganic substances that are found the soil, air and water. They are often called dusts of the soil or elements of nutrition. Minerals are important because they are necessary in the metabolic or enzymatic activities of the body. The body cannot create them so they must be supplied through diet. Minerals are not created in a vacuum so the soil must be replenished through sensible organic farming.
Most illnesses are a result of mineral deficiencies or toxicities. Cadmium toxicity can result to hypertension, kidney and lung problems. Chromium deficiencies usually results to development of diabetes and atherosclerosis. Magnesium deficiencies have been associated with formation of leukemias and lymphomas, seizure, hypertension, chronic pain, depression, heart diseases and insomnia. Mercury and Aluminum toxicities can contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Dementia and some form of cancers. Zinc deficiencies can cause problems in the immune system, obesity, acne, infertility and dullness of sensations. Manganese deficiencies can cause bone problems and depression even schizophrenia. Iodine deficiencies may result to obesity, menstrual problems, mental dullness and infertility. Cobalt and Iron deficiencies can manifest as anemia and immune deficiency. Sodium taken in excess can cause seizure. Potassium toxicities can cause arryhthmias especially in patients who have kidney problems.
Herbal Therapy
80 percent of synthetic medicines are derived from plants. Plants exert influence in the body because of phytochemicals. These phytochemicals may act as anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, sedative, analgesic and psychoactive. Examples of these phytochemicals are lycopene, flavonoids, alkaloids, essential oils and beta-glucans.
Some cultures value their medicinal plants. The British grew opium poppy. China on the other hand is famous for their tea. The native Indians of America fought for their cactus that has psychoactive effects when the US government classified them as prohibited. Digitalis, a cardio-drug came from fox glove. Aspirin, an anti-platelet aggregate and pain reliever came from Willow bark. Vincristine and vinblastine, both use as chemotherapeutic drugs for leukemia came from the plant periwinkle. Pacific yew yielded to another chemo drug which cost almost 10k USD per session. Guava leaves has anti septic and anti- diarrheal properties. In fact, 95 % of diarrhea can be resolved just by drinking guava leaves. Oregano, chili peppers and garlic have antibacterial properties. Eucalyptus soothes irritated bronchial lining. Lemon has skin bleaching properties. Dandelion, burdock and milk thistle protect the liver. Carrots can contribute to better eyesight. Sweet annie has abortifacient properties. Honey and cinnamon have anti-inflammatory properties and anti-microbial. Coconut oil is valued for its conditioning effect on the skin, hair and nails. Grapes have antiaging properties. Malabar spinach is great to ward off constipation. Horsetail, lemongrass and stinging nettle are good for kidney problems such as infections and stones. Ginger can calm an upset stomach and eases pain and discomfort. Chili pepper can help relieve pain if applied topically as a paste on tender areas of the body.
Plants can be boiled, steamed, juiced, or eaten raw. Leaves can be applied to skin as well. Barks of trees or tough parts of the plants should be boiled for 15 minutes. Stems, leaves and flowers or soft parts of the plant may be steeped with hot water for 5 minutes then drank. Tincture is usually done with the use of alcohol or vodka. The key is the quantity and quality. Plants harvested for their medicinal property should be grown in the optimum conditions, soil, weather and environment. It should be free form environmental contamination like lead, mercury and cadmium. The soil should be rich in minerals and organic substances.
Do not consume or process unknown plants as some plants are poisonous and inedible. Always consult a medical practitioner if you are planning to use herbal remedies.
Nutritional Therapy
Nutrition is universal in Natural Medicine. Without proper food intake, metabolism and assimilation, we all are bound to be sick and if not corrected can lead to death. Cancer loves sugar. It is important to exclude sugar in the diet, natural and synthetic. Simple carbohydrates are not allowed as they are easily converted to glucose in the body. Simple carbohydrates include, rice, pasta, potato, and sweet potato. She discourages the consumption of GMO or genetically modified organisms. GMO is bad because our body doesn’t have the enzyme to process this new type of food. Our body reacts to it by malabsorption, allergic reactions and inflammatory responses. Inflammation is the basis of Cancer.
Processed food like bacon, sausage and hot dogs have nitrates on them. The nitrates have been proven to cause stomach cancer in studies. Processed foods also have dyes on them that can cause inflammation and allergies. Tartrazine yellow has been proven to cause asthma attacks on sensitive people. Currently there are 9 artificial dyes that are approved by USFDA that are likely to cause cancer, hypersensitivity and behavioral problems. Artificial dyes are derived from petroleum and are used to enhance the colour of foods. Artificial flavourings are also harmful in our health if consumed. MSG or Monosodium glutamate has excitatory effects on the neuronal firings that may trigger headache and seizures. In a study that involves rat pups the administration of MSG showed altered behavioral characteristics, tonic-clonic seizures and electroencephalographic pattern alterations. Aspartame or artificial sweetener may be converted to wood alcohol and formaldehyde. The consumption of these substitutes for sugar had been shown to cause brain problems. Aspartame is an artificial sweeter 200 times sweeter than table sugar. All canned foods shouldn’t be consumed. The Bisphenol A from the can may leach into the food and may contaminate it. In fact, 40 percent of canned goods that were studied have BPA on them. BPA is an endocrine disruptor that has been linked in the formation of numerous birth defects and cancer. Also, some deadly bacteria may survive the heating method that is used to sterilize the food. An example of this is Botulism which can cause a rare but serious food borne illness. Botulism can cause neurologic symptoms such as double vision, also difficulty of breathing and swallowing. Clostridium botulinum makes a lethal neurotoxin that can cause paralysis and even death.
As a rule, anything that man made is harmful to our health these includes cakes, candies, bread
and soft drinks. Therefore, whole foods such as unripe fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, organic eggs, organic meats are encouraged. Organic means non -GMO, no growth hormones, no antibiotics, vaccine free and grass fed. Antibiotic used in growing animals for consumption is a practice to stop the growth of harmful bacteria that are common. However, those antibiotics that are being introduced to chicken, pigs and cows when eaten can also be absorbed by humans. This also adds to antibiotic resistance that is plaguing our nation right now due to irresponsible antibiotic prescription and use. Growth hormones and steroids are usually injected in animals to increase their muscle mass. The introduction of exogenous hormones may upset the homeostasis in the animal. These animals when eaten by humans may impact their hormones as well. Vaccines may contain harmful substances in them such as aluminum, formaldehyde, dyes, fetal cells and mercury. When introduced into the animal and when these animals are slaughtered and eaten these substances may be passed to the unsuspecting consumer. Feeds that are usually fed to the animals are full of GMO corn and soya. These feeds have contributed to the formation of various cancers in the animals. The cooking and processing of food can lead to losses in various minerals and vitamins. Vitamin B and C are usually lost in fruits that are peeled and exposed to air at a significant amount of time.
Lifestyle and Environmental Modification
Man has changed his environment for the worst because of mining and industrialization. The result is that he has been exposed to toxic minerals and environmental pollutants that he pays high with regards to his health. In Japan, some had been exposed to Cadmium as a result of mining. This practice have contaminated the rivers of one of the towns in Japan and those people who drank from this river started complaining of joint pains. Mercury poisoning was also found in the riverbank of Japan. The fish that the people ate made them sick. The infants from the pregnant women who ate the contaminated fish developed severe mental retardation. Lead is another environmental pollutant that is slowly killing human beings. Almost 3/4 of the lead is discharged in the exhaust to the air. This contaminates the air, soil and plants. The cows that ate the grasses alongside the street where lead is aplenty died. The house is also a place of pollutants because of paints, furniture and electronics. Paints may contain lead, mercury and benzene or toluene. Benzene may cause liver and blood cancer such as leukemia. Formaldehyde, a binding agent in cheap furniture can evaporate when heated and can cause severe health problems.
Health and personal care products, household cleaning agents and aerosol sprays are laced with toxic substances that we inhale, absorb and expose ourselves to. Soaps have sodium lauryl sulfate that may increase the risk of cancer development. Dyes and synthetic perfumes can cause allergic reactions, dermatitis and asthma. Strong deodorants may contain aluminum that has been associated with some types of cancer. The cleaning agents that mothers use to clean the toilet, dirty clothes and dishes all have been proven to increase the incidence of some form of cancer particularly lung cancer. Cooking utensils may be from Aluminum. Aluminum has been proven to harm the neurons. Teflon, has fluorine which Is now considered a potent neurotoxin by several scientist. Cooking oils particularly oxidized corn oil has contributed in the formation of lung cancer.
Exercising improves the overall function of the body. Moving improves brain function, immunity, bowel movement, kidney excretion, lymphatic drainage and heart function. Alcohol consumption is toxic to the liver and brain. Severe alcoholic intake can damage the liver that may result in cirrhosis and eventually liver cancer. Tobacco smoke has tons of chemicals that are not only addictive but also carcinogenic in nature. Tobacco smoking can cause various types of cancer like oropharyngeal, lung, reproductive cancers, bladder and hepatobiliary cancer. Viral diseases like Hepatitis B, C and D can cause liver cancer. HPV has been proven to cause cervical cancer. HIV can cause Kaposi’s sarcoma. Epstein Barr Virus has been demonstrated to cause Nasopharyngeal carcinoma and lymphoma. Parasitic infection like schistosomiasis can cause bladder and liver cancer. Toxoplasmosis can cause schizophrenia and congenital disease in unborn infants.
The Principles behind the Doctor Farrah Protocol
The body is like a house. If we bring in many things in the house like groceries, furnitures, toys and appliances but we don’t take out the garbage, the house will be overloaded, will stink and will be overwhelmed. If the plumbings are obstructed, there will be leaks and the leaking water will flood and destroy the house. If the septic is not properly cleared out regularly, there will be flood and the stink will overwhelm the place. Our body is simple. We utilize food, process them and eventually excrete the waste through the kidneys, skin, lungs and the intestines. If these organs malfunction then we are in trouble.
basic principles of the Doctor Farrah protocol
Toxic Overload
Micronutrient Deficiency
Detoxification Problems
Homeostatic imbalance
Toxic Overload
Our body are being attacked every day, every hour, every minute and every single second. The attacks can come from bacteria, viruses, fungi, environmental toxins, drugs, radiation, chemicals and physical insults and stress. Fortunately, our body is capable of protecting itself. We have soldiers, fire fighters, policemen and military cells that patrol our system all day long. These cells are found everywhere in the body. They are collectively known as the Immune System. If they are properly nourished and primed, they can easily identify and eliminate the enemies. However, if the body is compromised, these immune cells may not be as effective in their functions. Most illnesses stem up from poisoning or overloading of toxins in the body. Imagine a vessel with a small tube exiting it at the bottom and a big tube entering it. Apply water on the entrance tube and the vessel will be filled up in no time. However, if the exit tube has a small diameter, the vessel will overflow and it can flood or destroy other structures around it. This is what happens in our body whenever a toxic substance that we ingest or introduce are not eliminated as fast. It can affect the health of the entire organism.
Micronutrient Deficiency
Henry Schroeder, MD a renowned scientist and physician once said that “A human digs his grave through his teeth.” Linus Pauling, a physicist also believed that most illnesses are a result of micronutrient deficiency. Food is one of the most important causes of human diseases right now. A perfect diet can protect the cell. Micronutrient deficiency is so prevalent right now due to soil depravation, agronomic sins and processing of food. Processing of food eliminates most of the minerals and vitamins that are found in the plants. Agronomic sins include impartial or imbalance fertilization of soil and use of herbicides and pesticides or toxic rescue chemistry. Micronutrient deficiency has been proven to cause several problems in the body. Magnesium deficiency in the body is exhibited with headaches, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, depression and cancer. Manganese deficiency can cause schizophrenia, bone problems and skin diseases. Zinc deficiency can cause obesity, acne, eczema, infertility and immune system problems. Selenium deficiency has been proven to cause cancer. Sulfur deficiency can cause skin problems and arthritic complaints. Germanium deficiency is also shown to contribute to certain cancer formation. Vitamin deficiency can cause varied diseases from blindness, cancer, osteoporosis, heart diseases and neuropathies.
Detoxification Problems
The liver, skin, lungs, kidneys and colon are just few of the detoxification organs in the body that maintains health. The liver can eliminate, neutralize and destroy toxins and drugs through the process of cytochrome p50. The skin has numerous sweat glands to rid of excess fluids and toxins. The colon houses temporarily those unwanted substances in the body and gently eliminates them in a process known as defecation. The kidneys eliminate drugs and toxic substances through urination. Carbon dioxide is eliminated in the body through lungs. If one of these organ’s function is compromised and diseased, the body will succumb. Kidney failure may cause pulmonary congestion, edema and metabolic abnormalities. Liver failure patients may have hepatic encephalopathy in which the toxic gas ammonia goes into the brain and cause coma. Intestinal obstruction may lead to toxic megacolon and eventually sepsis, a condition in which the blood is being poisoned from within.
Homeostatic imbalance
The body operates smoothly if it is in a balance. And if this balance is challenged, the body usually corrects it. If the body fails to correct it, then problems may arise. This balance is known as homeostasis and this process is governed by the brain and the endocrine system through neurotransmitters and hormones. The body functions properly if the ph is between 7.35-7.45 and the temperature is within 36.5- 37.2 degrees Celsius. Most enzymatic reactions move forward under these certain conditions. The skin prefers to be in an acidic medium to protect itself from harmful bacteria. However if the balance is upset, diseases may arise. For example, diabetic patients are prone to develop fungal infection because the ph in their skin becomes altered. This is also one of the reason why diabetic women are prone to candidiasis. In cases of malignant hyperthermia, the hypothalamus cannot correct the temperature of the body and can cause protein degeneration of the brain that can lead to death.
